    Responsibilities

    • Provide upbeat, professional, service that goes above and beyond our guests’ expectations
    • You will come across thousands of guests a day from all over the world, so being up to date on all Pursuit products is key
    • Based on the Athabasca glacier, your daily commute will be via Ice explorer
    • Providing guests information on the local area
    • Coordinating guests and tour groups on/off coaches and/or Ice Explorers
    • Guest surveying
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the Athabasca Glacier
    • Deliver high-quality interpretive content in a professional, proactive and interactive manner
    • Ensure guests are maneuvering safely around Ice Explorers and on the glacier surface
    • Regular assessment and maintenance of the turnaround point and the marking of hazards
    • Uphold the high standard of environmental stewardship expected for all employees

     

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: 

    • Organization and time management skills are a must, but a passion for making a difference for each guest and employee is the most important aspect of this position!
    • Excited by the idea of living and working in a remote (yet very social) environment
    • Guest service-oriented mindset and a passion for delivering memorable experiences
    • Fluent and articulate in English, able to communicate and comprehend over two-way radio, required
    • Able to lift 50 lbs. and capable of manual duties (bend, stoop, squat and stretch)
    • Ability to think on the fly and outside the box to solve problems with a positive attitude
    • A fantastic sense of humor as well as a friendly, mature, energetic personality
    • Commitment to become an interpretive expert and ambassador through the completion of a week-long interpretive training program (provided upon starting employment)
    • Alberta Class 5 License (unrestricted), required
    • Willingness to acquire Air Brake (Q) Endorsement
    • 2nd or 3rd language(s) are considered assets in this role
    • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
    • Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
    • Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
    • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in an outdoor environment
    • Prepared to be exposed to all types of weather (snow, rain, wind, hail)
    • Meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards
    • To honour our commitment to be “Always Honest” all employees must consent to a criminal record check
    • Standard First-Aid or higher, required
    • Sll employees must consent to a criminal record check

    Work Environment

    • Contract dates; April 3rd to October 22nd, 2018 or May 1st to October 1st, 2018
    • Typically 5 days on/2 days off
    • 6 days on/1 day off during peak periods
    • Days off may change with each schedule and depend on business level
    • Long weekends may incur schedule changes
    • Expect 35 – 44 hours per week depending on business levels
    • Polo shirts, North Face pants and indoor jacket will be issued on arrival
    • Outdoor uniform is provided when working outdoors
    • Eligible for a retention and performance bonus
