    Responsibilities

    • Enlightening guests with your own knowledge of the sun by providing a brief engaging experience while viewing the sun through a solar telescope
    • Independently obtain supplies, set up station, and provide an outstanding experience to guests based on specific program
    • Participate in short training session prior to program start date
    • Take photos for guests using their own camera to ensure a lasting memory of the Banff Gondola
    • Greet guests and answer questions in a welcoming and positive manner

     

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

    • Astronomy diploma, certificate and or courses are an asset however, basic knowledge and understanding of viewing solar flares through a telescope could also be considered.
    • Available and willing to commit to contracted dates (July through September) with flexible hours. These dates laid out and agreed to upon hiring.
    • Organization and time management skills are a must, but a passion for making a difference for each guest is the most important aspect of this position.
    • Consistent outstanding guest service skills and a passion for delivering memorable experiences
    • Energetic with a passion for the mountains and everything about them
    • A fantastic sense of humor as well as a friendly, mature, energetic personality
    • Charismatic and comfortable with speaking to large groups and children
    • Ability to think on the fly and outside the box to solve problems with a positive attitude
    • Able to stand and work outside in varying mountain weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail) for 4-5 hours at a time
    • Must meet Pursuit grooming and appearance standards
    • Responsible for dressing appropriately according to the weather, wear attire provided by Banff Gondola Program Manager when required
    • Carry and move up to 50 lbs
    • Basic First Aid an asset 
    • Proven ability to work within strict policy/procedures and guidelines 
    • Ability to read and write English
    • Second language an asset
