    Responsibilities

    • Assist the Maintenance Manager to provide an exceptional guest experience by providing a safe, clean and professional looking facility for guests

    • Support all facets of the Facilities Cleaning and Maintenance department in a “hands-on” manner by jumping in to help in any or all of the job components of a Facilities Cleaner and/or Maintenance Worker
    • Support, train, coach, encourage the Maintenance and Facilities cleaning teams
    • Act as the “on the floor” daily leadership for the Maintenance and Facilities cleaning teams
    • Focus on operational excellence, employee training and development, service standards and consistencies
    • Perform established cleaning duties on a daily basis for all guest and team member areas
    • Keep emergency exits and hallways clear of debris
    • Ensure cleaning checklists and maintenance logs are maintained and up to date
    • Maintain garbage collection areas and help facilitate an effective recycling program
    • Preform minor painting and plumbing duties
    • Coordination of daily and weekly employee schedules and breaks
    • Recognizing, and identifying, business needs in relation to employee scheduling
    • Responsible for inventory and stock-take of equipment and supplies
    • Report equipment and supplies to the Maintenance Manager for re-order
    • Provide administrative support to the Maintenance Manager, including supplies ordering and SOP Development
    • Performing quality assurance checks and coaching staff members as required
    • Daily cleaning duties for the Icefield Centre including: general public, office and washroom areas
    • Retaining all public areas clean and tidy to a professional standard and quality
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the receiving and supplies room
    • Cardboard bailing and organization of building recycling

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: 

    • Attention to detail and effective communication skills are a must, but a passion for making a difference for each guest and employee is the most important aspect of this position
    • Previous leadership position experience, or a willingness progress into a leadership position
    • Passion for coaching and developing employees
    • Excellent employee and public relations skills and a friendly/cooperative nature
    • Strong team play, organization and communication skills
    • Excited by the idea of living and working in a remote (yet very social) environment
    • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
    • Ability to lift loads of up to 50 pounds as necessary
    • Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
    • Self motivated with a consistently high level of energy
    • Ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks needing attention
    • Strong organizational skills, while possessing flexibility towards different tasks
    • Confidence to safely use common hand tools such as hammers, drills, wrenches and screwdrivers
    • Experience in a custodial or light maintenance role an asset
    • Tourism or hospitality industry experience an asset
    • Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
    • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods of time in both an indoor and outdoor environment
    • Prepared for all weather conditions (snow, rain, wind, hail)
    • Meet the grooming and appearance standards

    • Standard First-Aid or higher an asset

    Work Environment

    • Contract dates; March 26th to October 27th, 2019
    • Shifts include; 7am - 3pm and 3pm to 11pm
    • Typically 5 days on/2 days off
    • Days off may change with each schedule and depend on business level
    • Long weekends may incur schedule changes
    • Expect 35 – 44 hours per week depending on business levels
    • Polo shirts, North Face pants and indoor jacket will be issued on arrival
    • Outdoor uniform is provided when working outdoors
    • Eligible for a retention and performance bonus
