Provide value-added guest experience piece to visitors of the Banff Gondola’s Upper Terminal

What will you do in this job?

  • Explain the experience and provide direction
  • Engage guests by welcoming them and asking them if they require assistance
  • If you see a guest taking a photo of their family, ask them if they’d like you to capture a photo with them also included
  • Anticipating our guest needs is key in elevating the experience
  • Located on different levels of the building and are require to roam, identifying opportunities to engage with the guests
  • Welcome all guests on the different levels in the Upper Terminal’s (especially on the 1st level when getting off the Gondola ride)
  • Direct guests to restrooms, restaurants, board walk, Sanson’s Peak, Observation Deck, retail locations, interpretive floor and movie theatre, Gondola ride down, etc
  • Assist guests in picture taking
  • Become knowledgeable and answer questions regarding the Gondola offerings and Pursuit offerings
  • Help with the management of traffic flow throughout the building
  • Answer questions on topics related to the Canadian Rockies, including geology, wildlife and local human history, (it is expected that the Guides will keep a personal interest in staying informed about these topics over the duration of their contract)
  • Participate in programs and/or assist guest speakers during special programs or events
  • Maintain cleanliness of the areas
  • Ensure a memorable Guest Experience
  • Assist in Health and Safety initiatives
  • Work with the Upper Terminal Ticket desk to ensure consistent delivery of information

What skills and experience do you need for this job?

  • A high level of customer service is paramount, along with attaining a high level of knowledge of the Banff Gondola, its interpretive stations, and the unique natural features and habitat of the area
  • Comfortable speaking to large groups in formal settings, as well as one-on-one in informal situations
  • Initiative to walk up to guests and engage with them
  • Friendly and cooperative nature
  • Strong communication skills towards customers and supervisors
  • Autonomy to work unsupervised, report observations to supervisors
  • Creativity and willingness to improve guest experience
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Mature, energetic, dependable, self-motivated, and enjoy working within a team environment
  • Ability to reason and react with quick, thoughtful judgement, while remaining calm under pressure
  • Ability to deliver interpretive information as per Pursuit standards and as learned during training
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Capable of performing demanding physical/manual duties as required
  • Meet Pursuit's grooming standards
  • Enjoy working indoor and outdoor and maintaining high service standards even during inclement weather conditions
  • Previous guiding experience, second language and First Aid certification are an asset

What will your work environment be like?

This is a part time position with two different schedules available 

1. Part time, weekends from November 20-December 19, and daily from December 20-30
2. Part time, evenings from December to March

  • Beautiful. You’ll work in iconic, unforgettable and inspiring locations. You’ll see amazing scenery and wildlife. You’ll participate in team events – and fun! 
  • Independent. You’ll spend your days in and around national parks
  • Remote. Our home is filled with trees, lakes and blue-bird skies; rather than buildings, freeways and smog. Connect with friends around a bonfire instead of through WiFi 
  • Busy. You need to be prepared for a physical working environment with walking, stair climbing, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds with assistance) required
